ANATG rejects HPC, seeks CM’s intervention

Aggrieved teachers of All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 batch addressed a representation to the chief minister Nagaland Monday rejecting the setting up of a High-Powered Committee (HPC) proposed by the commissioner and secretary, SE & SCERT during a meeting between the two parties on September 30.
In the representation, ANATG said that only the intervention of the CM would bring about a solution to the impasse with department of School Education (DoSE) over the regularisation issue.
ANATG mentioned that they began their agitation, starting with a silent sit-in protest from September 26 and later the indefinite hunger strike.
The representation was signed by 14 units representing all the districts of the State and also informed that the agitation would continue until their demand for regularisation was fulfilled.
Several members have been in service for over a decade and deemed as injustice the failure of the DoSE in not regularising their services. ANATG said their service had been utilised when the department was in need to fill up empty posts. One female member said many of them had come to Kohima to participate in the agitation and that those from the far-flung districts were facing untold hardships as they had no place to stay.
Speaking on behalf of the female members, she said mothers, wives and daughters among them, had to leave their family behind to fight for something which the department should have taken care of without compelling them to take such drastic steps.
She made a fervent appeal on the CM to intervene through a humanitarian perspective and resolve it at the earliest so that they could return home and also resume their duties for society.
The agitating teachers have shifted to Secretariat junction from NSF Solidarity Park, where they have put up makeshift camps for the night.
