Peren District PWD Field Workers’ Union has reiterated the demand for release of their salary without any categorisation at the earliest failing which, it would be compelled to take up another democratic means of agitation.
Union’s president Kunam Hegeu and secretary Temsu Ao said the work-charge employees had not been released their salaries for years together by PWD despite a February 2, 2022 order by secretary to Kevekha Kevin Zehol, which clearly stated that verification report of these employees would be completed by February 14, 2022. Following this, they said the workers had called of their agitation. But, they lamented that till now there were no news regarding the released of salary and no intimation from the authority concerned.
Hence, they questioned the State government and PWD for the delay in verifying genuine work-charge employees, when all necessary formalities had been completed.
They also asked why the work-charge employees were placed under various category like R1 and R2, when Aadhaar and physical verification had been completed in March 2020, and why assurance was given that all formalities would be completed by February 14, 2022. They questioned who would be held responsible for the accumulated credit and debt of the work-charge employees whose children’s future were at stake now, besides hampering their families.
The union alleged that the State government and PWD did not care and had no concern towards the plight of the workers who had been toiling under sun and rain. They therefore asked the government and PWD to respond to their queries at the earliest.
