PHED Longleng organises skill development training

A community level skill development training programme under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activity was organised by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Longleng division on October 8 at VCC and VDB Conference Hall, Longleng.
According to a DIPR report, special guest of the programme, SDO (Civil) Longleng, Trongdipa Tongpi Sangtam exhorted the trainees stating that skill development training was an opportunity to enhance skills and become self-reliant while contributing to the economy at large. He encouraged the trainees to be sincere and take up these kinds of activities which would provide sustainable income.
Sangtam further stated that JJM was envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all households in rural areas.
In a keynote address, district chemist, Sumachiba Walling said the training was aimed at imparting skills to the villagers for routine maintenance of drinking water distribution assets to ensure sustainability of water supply infrastructures.
The programme was followed by a practical session where the trainees were trained on plumbing, fitting and masonry.
