Rotary Club of Kohima (RCK) launched various livelihood projects to mark the Rotary Year 2022-2023 during an event at de Oriental Grand, here on Monday. The projects are a joint venture of RCK and Rotary Club of Delhi South East supported by RNB Project Aspire and Today to Eternity Foundation.
In a short speech, special guest and district governor on official visit, Dr Kaushanava Pabi said the vision was to bring people together to unite and take actions for the collective welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, RCK president, Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü disclosed that the club had undertaken livelihood projects for women and girls. She said since Naga society was a patriarchal society, the club wanted to give more focus on women and girls at the same time, stress on the importance of networking. Some of the RCK pilot projects was to encourage more local productions. RCK will be taking up 20 piggery, 50 poultry and 50 organic farming projects.
In the first phase of the project, altogether 12 beneficiaries under piggery, poultry and organic farming units were selected.
Earlier foundation stones for 8 washrooms at Pheza college of Arts and Technology, Nerhema village which was unveiled by Rtn. Neeraj Bhatnagar of RC Delhi South East.
