First level checking of EVMs, VVPATs begins

In view of the upcoming Assembly 2023, the first level checking (FLC) of electronic voter machine (EVMs) and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPATs) got underway on Tuesday.
FLC is the process of full functionality test check of EVMs/VVPATs as preparatory step for the conduct of forthcoming NLA election.
In a press note, chief electoral officer (CEO) Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar informed that the first level checking would continue till October 19 and would cover all district headquarters.
Altogether, 34 EVMs & VVPATs engineers from Electronic Cooperation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad headed by PC Mandal DGM as state co-ordinator have been deputed for the conduct of FLC of EVMs/VVPATs.
The Election Commission of India has also deployed eight EVM nodal officers from Mizoram, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, NCT Delhi, Assam, Punjab, Sikkim and Manipur for inspection of FLC preparedness and quality check.
