Zunheboto
Various programmes on Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) scheme were held in Zunheboto, Noklak and Longleng districts. SUMAN scheme is an initiative by the central government for zero preventable maternal and new born death and aims at achieving the target of reducing maternal and infant mortality in the country.
Zunheboto: Office of the chief medical officer (CMO) along with District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto organised the launching programme of SUMAN in the conference hall of District Hospital, Zunheboto on Wednesday.
In a press release, district media officer (DMO) Zunheboto, Keneikhrietuo stated that in the welcome address, SMO, senior specialist (surgeon), Dr. Shikato highlighted the main aim of SUMAN scheme and stressed on it would be beneficial for the state.
In order to implement the scheme in the district, he informed that DH Zunheboto was selected by the state government along with various health units.
In the keynote address, DPO (UIP&RCH), Dr. Heto Swu highlighted SUMAN activities in the district and delivered detailed statistics on maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate which showed a drastic declination compare to a decade ago.
He said this was due to the initiative taken by the state government. Dr. Heto also elaborated on the vision of SUMAN.
Beneficiaries for this scheme included—pregnant women and up to six months after post and sick infants.
At the programme, EAC Nyamok Konyak delivered a short speech while medical superintendent (MS) DH, Dr. C. Yanpo Kithan launched the SUMAN facility.
DPM (NHM) Rosemary Vitoli chaired the programme while senior specialist Ob & Gy, Dr. Meyielhi Kapfo proposed vote of thanks.
Noklak
Noklak: District Health Society (DHS) under CMO Noklak conducted the Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) orientation on October 18 at the Conference Hall of CMO Noklak office.
According to a DIPR report, during the orientation, CMO-cum-MS, Dr. Victor shared on the free and safe services for delivery care and treatment available through “SUMAN initiative”. The programme was attended by church leaders, NGOs village health chairmen and health workers.
Longleng
Longleng: The SUMAN scheme was launched on October 15 at Community Health Centre (CHC) Tamlu in the presence of additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Tamlu, Neiloze Tep. In his speech, Tep asserted the importance of coordination among departments, using church platforms and support of ASHAs and Angwadi workers for successful implementation of all national programmes. The launching programme was attended by DPM Longleng, NGOs, Phomla Hoichem, church leaders, ASHAs and AWWs, administration and staff of CHC Tamlu.
