NTC initiates ‘freedom from garbage’ campaign

\In a move towards a cleaner and greener town, Niuland Town Council (NTC) on October 27 initiated a “freedom from garbage” campaign by organising a workshop on “scientific management of waste”.
According to a DIPR report, NTC administrator, T. Lemlila Sangtam said the objective of the campaign was to create attitudinal and habitual change among the people towards sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
Sangtam said the campaign also aims to promote source level composting of bio degradable waste and manage dry waste through systematic collection, storage and channelizing for recycling. The workshop ended with enrolment of campaign volunteers for follow up.
