RTA Kohima discusses steps to ease traffic woes

As traffic woes continue to cause inconvenience to the public, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Kohima held a meeting under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, Shanavas C, in the conference hall of DC Kohima on Friday and discussed issues regarding the traffic congestion faced by the public of Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting had a thorough deliberation on how to take corrective measures and steps to ease the ever-growing traffic congestion.
The house discussed reports based on spot verification and the proposal/suggestions made by the verifying officers.
Issues like putting up signage/stickers of parking/no-parking; increasing smart city buses for public utility; issuing permits for purchasing private buses and permits for two-wheeler taxis for educated unemployed youths; towing away of off-road vehicles and removing building materials along the highway and fixing rate for two-wheeler taxis plying between Kohima and ISBT were also discussed for appropriate action.
