Capacity workshop for policymakers

A three-day, capacity building workshop organized by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Nagaland, facilitated by Thinkthrough Consulting Pvt Ltd, New Delhi began in Kohima on Monday.
According to DIPR report, the training programme was for policymakers from different departments of the government of Nagaland involved in supporting identified thrust industrial sectors.
The programme aimed to emphasize the importance of an evidence-Based policy-making process towards arriving at an enabling framework for inclusive and sustainable industrial development most appropriate to the State. Government officials from 16 line departments and agencies associated with industrial development in Nagaland are participating in the programme.
Dr. Rene Van Berkel, UNIDO representative, and Head, Regional Office in India set the context for the capacity building and training programme, by highlighting the importance of nurturing industries most appropriate to Nagaland.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Khekhrievor Kevichusa delivered the inaugural address while Parul Soni from ThinkThrough Consulting appreciated the State’s efforts and UNIDO support in complementing these efforts.
International experts from UNIDO Dr. Anders Isaksson, Chief Capacity Development and Policy Advice Unit, and Christoph Hammer, Expert in Industrial Policy, will be delivering hands-on and highly-interactive sessions leveraging UNIDO’s tools on ‘Enhancing the Quality of Industrial Policy (EQulP)’ during the programme.
