Sand ban on Bokajan side to be lifted from today

In the interest of general public, Sand Stockiest & Suppliers’ Union Dimapur (SSSUD), Sand Stockists’ & Sand Suppliers’ Union Chümoukedima (SSSSUC) and Assam Sand Supply & Truck Owners’ Association (ASSTOA) have decided to lift the ongoing sand ban on Bokajan side of Assam from Friday.
In a press release, presidents of SSSUD Viniho Shohe; SSSSUC Khriesavilie Yhoshu and ASSTOA Anito N Shohe said that the decision was made at an emergency meeting on Thursday, taking into consideration the hardship faced by the general public following the indefinite ban on sand imposed in the State due exorbitant rise in its price. In order to control the self-style fixation of sand price, the organisations resolved to fix the price of sand for all stockists and suppliers and decided to regulate the price. (See table)
They also urged the general public to strictly follow the rate fixed by them and report if anyone was found selling the sand beyond the price fixed.
The meeting also resolved to continue the indefinite ban on sand on Manja side of Assam as the matter had not been resolved and urged all stockists and suppliers to take note and report to the three organisations if anyone was found violating the ban.
While appreciating the general public and all concerned for their support during the sand ban period, the organisations solicited the support in the days to come too.
