With a view to preserve and promote traditional decorative, tools, attires, cuisines and items, a newly constructed Angami Naga house located at Dapfhütse, DBS-Seikhazou circular road, Kohima, was opened to the public during a programme on Monday evening.
Special guest during the opening, chairman, NKVIB, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, congratulated the proprietors, Kedisanuo Keditsu and Vikeduolie Khruomo for coming up with the initiative to preserve “our culture”.
He pointed out that Nagas were greatly blessed through their heritage and said this was one of the best possible ways to showcase “our” culture to the outside world.
He pointed out that this year, the State was expecting a good number of guests as the pandemic lockdown had disrupted all walks of life.
Sharing his concerns on the diminishing traditional knowledges, Dr. Keditsu said the present generation kids were losing a lot of the history of their forefathers.
Therefore, such initiatives showcasing Naga culture would go a long way, he added.
He urged the gathered older folks to teach the younger generations with the age-old practices and also the mother tongue as many kids were unable to speak in their own.
He suggested the owners to also invite elders from the village to come and narrate stories to visiting guests.
He said Kohima village being the second biggest village in Asia, its stories need to be heard and would be interesting as well.
In a short speech, proprietor, Kedisanuo said setting up the place was big challenge which was a collective effort of all the families.
She informed that they have plans to develop the area and come up with Morungs of all the Naga tribes and communities.
The inaugural started with prayers offered by Ko-o Keditsu.
