VP visits Kohima war cemetery

Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who inaugurated the 23rd Hornbill Festival on December 1, visited the Kohima War Cemetery on Friday.
Concluding his two-day visit, Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife paid tribute to the fallen heroes, who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during World War-II.
In the visitor’s dairy, the vice president wrote: “Humble tributes to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives fighting here in 2nd World War. This memorial is reminder of innumerable sacrifices. Their act of bravery and selflessness will continue to inspire generations.”
After visiting the WW-II memorial, the vice president left for New Delhi. Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio and other dignitaries bade farewell to Dhankhar at the Assam Rifles helipad Kohima.
Earlier, vice president held closed door meetings with governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio and his cabinet colleagues at Raj Bhavan.
Taking to twitter, Rio thanked the vice president on behalf of the people of the state. “Thank you for visiting Nagaland, Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji @jdhankhar1. Your gracious presence at the opening of the #HornbillFestival2022, the #FestivalOfFestivals, made the occasion more special. We hope you will visit us again,” the chief minister tweeted.
