MHA team holds talks with ENPO leaders

The three-member committee constituted by the Home ministry arrived Tuensang on Friday afternoon and held discussions with Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) executives, Talk Team and signatories of memorandum for Frontier Nagaland in Tuensang on Friday.
According to sources, the three-member committee headed adviser (Northeast) AK Mishra, and members– Intelligence Bureau joint director Dr Mandeep Singh Tuli and director (Northeast Division) in MHA AK Dhyani, held a meeting on Friday that lasted for about three hours.
Sources said that the MHA committee was well aware of the situation and reportedly acknowledged that genuine demand of ENPO.
The officials, currently stationed in Tuensang, are scheduled to meet leaders of the seven tribal bodies, followed by meeting with Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation, Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation and GB Union representatives on Saturday. It was also informed that the officials would also be meeting leaders of other religious communities (Hindu and Muslim) under ENPO region.
As per the schedule, the Central team is also expected to hold meetings with the DC/SP and other state government officials.
On Sunday, the team is expected to visit International Trade Centre (ITC) DAN Pangsha in Noklak district along the Indo-Myanmar border area and interact with the villages.
The team is also expected to meet other leaders in Kohima before their departure to Delhi.
Official sources said that the entire exercise by the Ministry was to understand and study the ground reality and then submit its report to government, and after which Union Home minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Eastern Nagaland in January 2023.
Earlier, during the day the members landed at Dimapur and flew to Tuensang by helicopter.
