Various organizations including political parties celebrated advent Christmas across the state.
CFD: Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) organised inter faith advent Christmas on December 19 at Bethesda Celebration Centre, Central Colony, Walford, Dimapur.
A press release by CFD informed that all the religious leaders representing their own faith from Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh participated and extended Christmas greetings to the people of Nagaland.
They also expressed their resentment against persecution of Christians in other parts of states and assured assistance in case of any such incidents in the future. The leaders also assured to work towards love, unity and peace among all sections of people, and thanked the Naga society for their religious tolerance and love towards the minorities living in Nagaland.
In a message, ADC Dimapur, Mhalo Mumtsoe said Christmas was all about love, peace and joy to the world through Jesus Christ. She called upon the people of Nagaland particularly citizens of Dimapur to trust, respect and love each other and live together in peace.
In a short message, CFD vice chairman, Rev. Vitoshe Swu spoke on the love of God through His Son Jesus Christ, citing 1 Corinthians 13:4-13. He encouraged the people of Nagaland to remain in God’s love, which is greater than faith and hope.
Earlier, in a welcome address, CFD president, Rev. Moses Murry, briefly shared about the purpose of organizing the inter-faith advent Christmas celebration.
He said CFD, prayerfully, started the inter- faith advent Christmas celebration in the year 2021 with an objective to bring all the different faiths/religious leaders together and celebrate Christmas.
Kohima Bn: Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) joined Kevi Children Home for pre-Christmas celebrations on December 17. At the event, captain Amit of Kohima battalion interacted with the children. Invocation prayers, songs, dance and address by Captain Amit were the highlights of the event.
NDPP Tuensang: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, Tuensang region celebrated advent Christmas and held its general meeting on December 20, at region office in Tuensang. A press release by NDPP Tuensang region stated that NDPP Tuensang region president, H Wongto, in his message expressed concern that most of the Nagas in the name of Christmas, instead of celebrating His birth and worshipping Him, were looking forward to enjoy in many wrong ways. He thereby expressed hope that as all awaits Christmas with different hopes of aspirations and prayed for hope and faith in Christ.
The programme was chaired by NDPP Youth Organisation Tuensang region, president, Imti Choba, bible reading and invocation prayer by NDPP Tuensang region, secretary, Women Organisation, I Naongsenti.
BJP Mokokchung: BJP Mokokchung District heralded the birth of Christ at an advent Christmas programme held on December 20 at the BJP district office with ex-minister and in-charge of BJP Mokokchung district, Nuklutoshi Longkumer as the special guest.
A press release by BJP Mokokchung stated that the special guest, Nuklutoshi Longkumer, while extending Christmas greetings, encouraged the karyakartas to be united and prepared. He said that the Naga people yearn for solution, and added that the BJP Mokokchung district should also work towards that end. However, he encouraged all the rank and file to be prepared if election should come.
9 Kohima Town A/C: 9 Kohima Town A/C celebrated advent Christmas ON December 20 at the Amphitheatre, Naga Heritage Village. Extending Christmas and New Year greetings, advisor, Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire said people should work with faith in God. He also asked the people to celebrate responsibly.
Calling on the party workers, Kire urged them to have faith, however, not be over confident as they do not know what lies ahead. He cautioned that over confidence leads to downfall therefore one should be mindful.
Music Club NSS: Music Club, Nagaland Secretariat Service (NSS) organised a Christmas Carol on December 20 at the Atrium, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. Officers and staff of Nagaland Civil Secretariat took part in the carol by singing Christmas songs filling the workplace with Christmas cheer and festivity. In a message,
Nagaland Secretariat Service Association, president, Chubasangla Longkumer said that Christmas was a time that brings joy and through such carol the music club hoped to spread warmth and joy of Christmas in the workplace.
