ENPO delegation leaves for Delhi

Correspondent

At the invitation of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), a delegation from Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) led by its president Tsapikiu Sangtam left for Delhi on Thursday for a meeting scheduled on December 23.
Sources informed Nagaland Post that ENPO received the invitation on December 19 evening, the day the three-member MHA team headed by advisor (North East) AK Mishra returned to Delhi from Nagaland after holding a series of meetings vis-à-vis Frontier Nagaland demand with chief minister Neiphiu Rio, senior State government officials and leaders of ENPO, tribal hohos and civil society organisations.
It may be mentioned that a senior government official told PTI on December 19 that the MHA team had called for another round of meeting with the ENPO and state government officials on December 23 in Delhi.
As reported, the Central team would submit its report to the Home ministry. Union Home minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Eastern Nagaland in January 2023.
The proposed visit of Amit Shah is crucial as he is likely to make some announcements regarding the Centre’s decision on ENPO demand.
It may be mentioned that ENPO, during its Central Executive Council meeting held recently, reaffirmed to stick by its August 26, 2022 resolution not to take part in “any election process of the Central and State until and unless a separate Statehood – Frontier Nagaland – is granted by the Government of India, as demanded by the people of Eastern Nagaland under the aegis of ENPO.”
