Khezhakeno Students’ Union, Bhandari Town Students’ Union hold sessions

Khezhakeno Students’ Union (KSU) and Bhandari Town Students’ Union (BTSU) observed their respective sessions at Phek and Bhandari on December 30 and January 4. Minister of Planning and Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu graced the KSU session as special guest while Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre Dimapur, Chenithung Humtsoe graced the BTSU session as chief guest.

Kronu graces KSU 64th session

The 64th general session of Khezhakeno Students’ Union (KSU) was held under the theme “A Vision for Tomorrow” at Lepfhe ground, Khezhakeno village under Phek district.
Minister of Planning and Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu graced the occasion as guest speaker.
In his speech, he encouraged the students to set their goals and work hard to achieve it.
He reminded the students that they must strive for self-reliant and not to totally depend on government avenues.
The minister also highlighted on the advantages and disadvantages of technology and encouraged the students to use their mobile phones wisely.
Dr. Velhou Koza, Assistant Professor (Sociology) Don Bosco College, Kohima also exhorted the gathering.
On the occasion, presidential addressed was delivered by Pfutsudulo Meche and prayer of blessings was offered by Ruokovilhou Letou, catechist.
Union anthem “Khezhakeno! Khezhakeno!” was led by Government High School, Khezhakeno while Mount Kahu Christian School, Khezhakeno and Zuve Vero performed special songs respectively.
Valedictory guest for the second session was Neikodo Chikha, GT Government High School, Khezhakeno.
For the first time, Khezhakeno Students’ Union also organised Mr and Miss KSU where Kuto Ladu and Keviengo-o Ngotha were named as Mr and Miss KSU.

BTSU 41st annual session

Bhandari Town Students’ Union (BTSU) held its 41st annual session on January 4 at public ground Bhandari Town on the theme ‘fostering a sustainable future’ with executive director Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre Dimapur, Chenithung Humtsoe as the chief guest.
Humtsoe in his speech said that student leadership was a platform that fosters educated youths in the field of leadership. He informed the educated youths not to be contended with the education they have obtained but urged them to be socially active and to partake in community activities.
He also encouraged them to become self-reliant besides the traditional practices of looking for only government jobs.
Humtsoe also reminded the youths to not sell their vote or barter their future in the upcoming state election but urged them to decide their future by choosing the right candidate and encouraged them to exercise their adult franchise.
Theme speaker of the session, Ashanthung Humtsoe president, Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) encouraged the student’s community to look beyond government job.
He however, said that inborn talent of the youths need to be identified and provided platforms so that they can expose their talent to earn their livelihood.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Shanjo Tungoe and began with an invocation by Echungthung Ezung, Police Baptist church, NAP battalion Youth Director, while benediction was offered by Longshibemo Kikon.
