HRUD: Hoshepu Range Union Dimapur (HRUD) has vehemently condemned what it described as “unjustifiable and inhumane acts” committed against ‘Col (Retd).’ Isak Sumi, Ato Kilonser of the NSCN (Khango) and his family on January 4, 2023.
In a press release, HRUD chairman Vika Zhimo and secretary Shikavi Kinimi said it was “tragic” that an organization, which claims to represent the noble Naga cause, “conducted itself in such a shameful manner.”
The union stated that whatever the internal issue was the matter should have been sorted out without resorting to “pedestrian methods.” It expressed sadness that the “illegitimate, and uncivilized actions” of “certain elements within the organization has brought great shame and disrepute to itself.”
HRUD stated that Hoshepu Range was pioneers in the Naga cause and take great pride in the innumerable sacrifices made for the same. “Today, we bristle with indignation at the unchristian and barbaric treatment of our son Isak Sumi, a bona fide member of our union,” HRUD stated.
The union questioned whether the NSCN (Khango) and its leadership by acting in such a short-sighted fashion “abdicated its position at the forefront of the Naga issue.”
Meanwhile, the union has affirmed to “unequivocally stand” with the decision of the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), the apex Sumi Hoho, Working Committee of the 7 NNPGs, and “together with all sane people” condemn the “barbarity” committed against Isak Sumi, his family, and concerned civil society leaders.
