Liquor destroyed at DMC dumping site

Assorted 2400 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs. 36 lakh (approximate) was destroyed on Thursday under the order of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Dimapur, at Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) dumping site.
The team led by Chief Judicial Magistrate (CMJ), Ajongba Imchen comprises of representatives from the area Mother’s Association, public prosecutor Dimapur, Dimapur bar association and police personnel.
According to CJM, Ajongba, application was received from ASI Nambipou Zeliang, investigating officer on the case through the officer-in-charge of East police station praying for pre-trail destruction of the seized IMFL in connection with the G.R-434/2017 of east P.S.case No.113/2017 U/s.44 (a) (e) of NLTP Act.
Ajongba informed that request for pre-trail destruction was made due to space constraint in the police station to store such huge consignments, difficulty in preventing pilferage as it was kept outside the police station and the fear the keeping it outside the station for long time would be an eye sore and prone to misuse.
