GSUD holds peace rally in support of Gorkhaland

A peace rally in support of demand for separate Gorkhaland to be curved out of hill areas in West Bengal was organised by Gorkha Students Union Dimapur (GSUD) on June 26 at at Singrijan village, Dimapur.
 A press note by GSUD president, Sunil Singh Limbu stated that the programme was chaired by Babu Raj Gorkha wherein the mass observed two minute silence in respect of the martyrs of Gorkhaland, killed during police firing on June 17.
In the rally, DGU chairman, Kumar Subba, while highlighting the history of Gorkhas termed Gorkhaland demand as the oldest legitimate demand in India.
He also lamented that despite being true Indians Gorkhas were termed as foreigner and asserted that Gorkhaland was the only solution  to the issue.
GSUD president Sunil Singh Limbu, lauded the gathering affirming full support towards the Gorkhaland agitation. Singrijan GB Teju Pradhan urged the public to be united and stand for what was actually the birth right of Gorkhas in India.
An ex army of 1/11 Gorkha Regiment Sub Arjun Kumar Rai described Gorkhas were very loyal and courageous who had fought in wars for the country while Gorkha Youth Club, Siva Kumar BK appealed to all the Gorkhas of India to be.
In the rally, Gorkhas of Dimapur were seen holding placard and banner which read “No Gorkhaland No Rest”; “I am a Gorkha and I support for Gorkhaland”.
Altogether 21units from Dimapur took part in the peace rally which included 3rd mile unit, Singrijan unit, Purana bazar unit, 7th mile unit, Naharbari unit, Notun bosti unit, Signal unit, 5th mile unit, Padum pukhuri unit, Darogapathar unit, Rangapahar unit, Chekiya unit, Khira unit, Gorkha youth Chumukedima, Nepali basti unit, Kuda unit, Gorkha youth club, GSU public college, Medziphema unit, Bora lengri unit, Walford unit.
Rev Vinod Rai president Gorkha Christian Alliance offered invocation prayer; vote of thanks was delivered by GSUD general secretary, Anand Gurung. Meanwhile, GSUD has conveyed gratitude to Singrijan village council and Singrijan youth for lending support towards the success of the rally.
