Nahorjan Village Committee (NVC) has issued a clarification that the village committee had no connection with the “so called eviction drive” and burning down of houses at Kramsa Model Village carried out by landowners.
NVC in a statement alleged that the act was purely carried out by one T.N. Manen and his party “who claimed themselves to be the original landowners” by maligning the name of the village committee.
NVC also clarified that it had not served any ultimatum to any dwellers residing at Kramsa Model village.
The signatories- NVC chairman Nogen Tokbi, Nahorjan R. Brahma Kachari Goan GB Tiken Brahma, Dili Terang village GB Romon Terang, AK Model village GB Augustine Kramsa, Nahorjan Block-II village GB Kania Tokbi, Nahorjan Hazampur GB Michael Bak and Sarbura Bey village GB Amor Bey- reiterated that the village was not under any land lease agreement with T.N. Manen and party. The signatories also dismissed as “purely baseless” the claim of landowners that the village was under cultivation by them for more than 30 years.
They said that it was not acceptable to drag the name of assistant land settlement-cum-revenue officer of KAAC of manipulating the land patta, saying Augustine Kramsa GB was the actual land owner as per government records. In the light of the above, the signatories said they had “nothing to say or comment on the issue as the land rightfully belongs to Augustine Kramsa”. However, to avoid confusion arising out of it, the signatories said that time has been given to the “self claimed” landowners to produce valid land patta before the office of the assistant land settlement-cum-revenue, Diphu.
Further, they clarified that the conflict between Augustine Kramsa and T.N. Manen had nothing to do with NVC since the real owners were the local Karbis.
