Drawing attention to PWD (National Highway) on the deplorable road condition of the 30 km stretch between NH 702 Longleng-Changtongya, the Longleng District Driver’s Union (LDDU) has urged the department to take up the repairing work at the earliest.
In a statement, LDDU president O. Alemtetba Phom and general secretary Lakba Phom, cautioned that the union would be compelled to go for agitation in the event the department failed to take up repairing and clearing of the road within this week.
LDDU said that the stretch is the only life line of the people of Phom and taking note on the plight of the people during rainy season, the matter was also taken up with the responsible department on numerous occasions.
Therefore, LDDU viewed that all the “unaccounted suffering” faced by the people of the area, especially students was due to the “unscrupulous attitude” of the department officials towards the people of Phom community.
