Mimkut mini hornbill underway at Molvom

The three-day 9th State level Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival held under the theme “Unity Through Culture” began on January 16 at GMS ground Molvom Village under Medziphema Sub Division, Chumukedima.
The festival was organized by Kuki Inpi Nagaland and sponsored by Tourism department. On the second day on Tuesday, chief secretary, J Alam, who graced the celebration as special guest recalled the contribution made by Kuki community in development activities such as farming, government, or any other sectors in the state.
He lauded them for their hard work in contributing to the development and encouraged them to continue to work hard with dedication which will not only develop the community but also help in developing Nagaland.
He thanked the Kuki community and the organizers as festivals like Mimkut Mini Hornbill were important for preserving and promoting Naga cultures. Special invitee, ADC Medziphema Imsongmeren urged the Kuki Community to carry on their good approach towards unity and progress for a better future.
The second day of the featured different activities like traditional dances from different cultural troupes from Athibung, Inbung, Molvom, songs from different bands- The Black Cheque RFG, and artists -Maxxy Minthang, Helamboi Baite. The three-day long Mimkut Mini Hornbill festival will culminate on January 18, with a night carnival, extravaganzas Miss Mimkut 2023, and a symposium on Kuki Custom and Culture with Keduosieu Metha, director Tourism as special guest.
Earlier, on the first day, special guest, Alun Hansing retd. Commissioner and Secretary, emphasized on the importance of celebrating the Mimkut festival as it exhibit the ethnic culture of tyhe community.
He also conveyed to the Kuki community to carry forward peace and prosperity through this festival.
