NEISSR organises skills building for social workers

North East Institute Of Social Science & Research (NEISSR), Dimapur organised a two-day, skills building for social workers at Peace Center, Chumoukedima from January 20 to 21. 113 social work students along with faculty members of NEISSR attended the program.
The orientation program was conducted by Dr. Jonas Richard A, Director, Centre for Life Skills Education (CLSE), Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.
In a press release, NEISSR Desk informed that Dr. Jonas in his presentation spoke on the 21st century skills such as soft skills, technical skills and professional skills. He also stressed on the importance of having the rights skills and attitude to become a successful social worker.
Dr Sherman Kuek, Professor of Theology and Dialogue, Christian Institute for Theological Engagement(CHRISTE) and convener of Splendor Project, Malaysia also gave a lecture on the importance of dialogue and a requisite skill for peace building. He said the world needs peace makers rather than peace keeper. He also spoke about the various dimensions of dialogue and the importance of adopting inclusive dialogue that affirms and give space to understand and include different set of ideologies, faith and beliefs in a pluralistic society.
Earlier, at the opening ceremony, Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto principal NEISSR talked about the importance of imparting soft skills, and churning education for more mindfulness that was aimed to make students more humane.
During the orientation program, students also had the opportunity to take part in group activities and discussions. Effective communication skills and problem solving skills were imparted to enhance the quality of life. The orientation program concluded with a valedictory note by Rev. Fr.
