
To enhance professional knowledge and creativity, two-day training for jail inmates on bamboo products, the first of its kind, commenced Thursday, at central jail, Dimapur.
The programme was organized in collaboration with Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA).
The training programme commenced with a short inaugural programme, where NBDA, team leader, Peter Lichamo briefed about the bamboo mission.
He informed that the inmates would be trained in bamboo broom making and stool making.
Therefore, he encouraged the inmates to work hard, to be sincere so that whatever they learnt would benefit them in their future.
Lichamo also assured to extend full support and cooperation towards the benefit of the inmates by providing market for them to sell the finished products.
Later, training programme was inaugurated by DIG, prisons, Kohima Thungdemo Lotha where he lauded the initiative taken up by NBDA in providing platform for the inmates.
He also encouraged the inmates to utilise and concentrate on the opportunities provided to them.
The programme was chaired by central jail, Dimapur assistant jailor, Zubemo Ovung, invocation prayer was pronounced by central jail, Dimapur assistant chaplain Abeni and welcome address was delivered by central jail Dimapur, jailor Dr, Oben Yanthan.
