
Minister of PHED, Chotisuh Sazo urged upon the conglomeration of Naga Students’ Federation to be agents of change by changing oneself even if one could not change the world.
Chotisuh was addressing the 27th general conference of NSF which would culminate at Tzurangkong valley on May 31. He told the conglomeration to change their mindsets with positive attitudes of decency, honesty, humility and integrity.
Also lamenting that Naga society was going through rough and hard times of fragmentation from Naga National Groups to civil society organisations, Chotisuh urged the gathering to deliberate and ameliorate on the ills of Naga society. He encouraged the Nagas to rise above one’s village and tribe and start to view Nagas as a wholesome unit.
“The founding fathers of the NSF had clear purpose and vision and did not view Naganess from the prism of tribe” and “we should all be worthy inheritors of this vision by nurturing and promoting the ideals and principles of our founding fathers”, he said.
The minister went on to say that the government of Nagaland under the leadership of Dr. Shurhozelie was striving it’s best to provide equal opportunity to the youth by streamlining appointments. However, he added that state alone could not provide jobs to all and in this respect, he advised the youths not just to earn degrees and seek jobs but ameliorate and strive to become job providers.
Union minister of state for Home, Kiren Rijiju who could not attend the inaugural programme due to inclement weather had dispatched a letter which was read out at the programme.
Chotisuh Sazo unveiled the NSF monolith at Tzurang valley which was dedicated by ABAM executive secretary, Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger. NSF president, Subenthung Kithan delivered the presidential address while Alam Herang presented a special song. A cultural troupe from the Arunachal Pradesh Naga Students’ Federation presented a cultural dance while an accapella group from the AKM presented a special song.
