One-day open house discussion on child mechanism was organised by District Child Protection Unit, Peren at Forest conference hall, Jalukie with Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, society director State Child Protection Society, Rampaukai, asst.conservator of Forest, D. Robin, SDO(C) Peren, JJB members, CWC members, SJPU, CCI, village councils, women organizations, stakeholders and village level child protection committee.
Society director highlighted about the ICPS and further stated that every individual in the society should be responsible in protecting the child rights for peaceful society.
He further stated that people should not adopt children from unrecognized agencies or unrelated person because it was illegal.
He also emphasised on the importance of CHILDLINE No:1089, a National 24 hours toll free services for children in need of care and protection.
Resource person Asungbe spoke on the Juvenile Justice System & Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He urged that no child was discriminated, abused, abandoned, neglected and exploited in the society as they are the fountain of life.
He further emphasised on NALSA (child friendly Legal services to children & their protection) scheme, 2015 and stated that POCSO Act was a gender neutral and provided for child-friendly measures.
He challenged the participants to teach/educate the child to trust their feelings and that it was alright to say no when somebody they know does something they do not like and know the difference between safe and unsafe touch.
Earlier the program was chaired by Muhiechu Ngori, PO (IC), invocation by Koliebizo Phizo, counsellor, DCPU, Peren, welcome address was delivered by Avika Zhimomi, DCPO, Peren and vote of thanks by Viketouto Nakhro, PO(NIC) Peren.
