Ten-day, Research Methodology for Ph.D students in social sciences programme was sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) from May 16 to 25, at Nagaland University (NU), Kohima Campus Meriema, with school of humanities and social sciences, Prof N Venuh, Dean, as chief guest.
The programme was jointly organized by department of education and department of teacher education, NU.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest in his valedictory speech noted that research was a challenging venture and that research scholars had to go through many obstacles and face frustrations, but one should have a positive attitude, find the right balance and not give up.
He apprised the young scholars that research should not be one sided and that one should have the right approach and attitude in dealing with sensitive cases like HIV/AIDS, Child Abuse and so on.
He also reminded the gathering that research had to be beneficial for society and that it should contribute positively to the society.
Dr. M.Rajendra Nath Babu, course director maintained that there were a total of 32 participants from different nine states across the country.
Altogether, 32 lectures on various topics were delivered by 18 resource persons.
He reported that other highlights of the programme included hands-on MS excel and statistical package for social sciences and a one day exposure cum field trip to Khonoma.
Four participants gave feedback on behalf of the participants where they maintained that the programme has helped them to learn on diverse research methodologies. They further expressed gratitude to the NU for organizing such a programme.
Certificates and course materials were given away by the chief guest, NU, dean of social sciences, Prof N Venuh, NU, HoD, education Prof Lungsang Zeliang.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by NU, department of teacher education assistant professor, Surendra Yadav, welcome address was delivered by NU, head i/c, department of teacher education, Dr Rakesh Rai, expressed hoped that the 10 day methodology Course for research scholars from social sciences had served its purpose of orienting young scholars to various methodologies of research.
Later vote of thanks was proposed by course director Dr. Rajendra Nath Babu.
