Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president and party candidate for 1-Dimapur-I constituency, K. Therie exuded confidence that post February 27 elections, secular-minded parties would form the government in Nagaland to salvage Nagaland from disintegration, to salvage the aspiration of the civil societies who have been protesting for early solution and to salvage the aspiration of the Christian society”.
Addressing media persons on the concluding day of electioneering here at Congress Bhavan, Therie said, the Congress party, in order to stop BJP from being part of the new government post-elections, will not “hesitate to have a post-poll alliance with the NDPP”.
Drawing attention to claims made by the NDPP-BJP alliance that they would bag over 45-50 seats, Therie predicted that the fissure within the NDPP-BJP alliance would be out in the open at the time of government formation.
He said in order to provide a stable government, the Congress would not hesitate to be part of the government with like-minded parties and exclusion of the BJP. Therie also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not mentioning about the Naga issue during his address at the Agri Expo ground on February 24. Therie said Modi has not only forgotten to fulfill his promise to solve the Naga issue, but was also completely distant from the interest of Nagas. Therie opined that by ignoring the issue, “He (Modi) wanted to say that Naga Political problem will die a natural death.”
He alleged that Modi only made false assurance and false implementation of central schemes.
Therie claimed that Congress is the only party committed to implement the agreed political solution, uphold integrity of Nagaland and provide and restore governance in the state. He said other political parties were not interested to resolve the Naga issue and had no concern of the law and order situation.
Therie also also pointed that gap between the have and have nots have only widened, which was a dangerous trend in the society.
Citing the example of Dimapur-I constituency, Therie said the area lacked basic infrastructures like proper roads, water supply, proper drainage, waste management etc.
He therefore, said it was not late for the people to realize and vote for Congress to take them to the right path.
Therie said that the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, in his speech at a rally in Dimapur, had made it clear that Congress and secular-minded parties would be forming the government at the Centre in 2024.
While pointing out that 12 out of 28 states in India were currently under BJP rule, Therie was confident that the Congress would return to power in Karnataka and this would impact the 2024 Lok Sabha polls across the country.
