All political parties veer towards another opposition-less govt

Correspondent

With political parties like the JD(U), RPI(Athawale) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), announcing their decision to join the NDPP-BJP government, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislators have also hinted their willingness to be part of the new government.
LJP (RV) and RPI(A) with two MLAs each and JD(U)’s lone legislator, have publicly made their stand known that they were ready to join the NDPP-BJP led government.
On the other hand, NCP, which had won seven out of 12 seats it contested, on Saturday asserted that some of the important decisions including extending support to the government etc. would be made after meeting with the party supremo Sharad Pawar.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, NCP national general secretary and in-charge North East, Narendra B Verma, said he had a closed-door meeting with the seven MLAs.
Verma said that the views and opinions of MLAs would be disseminated to the national president on Sunday.
He maintained that NCP’s core concern was on agriculture and farmers. However, he said that during the 2023 election campaign, it was found that Nagaland really lacked development. Verma said the party MLAs will remain committed to the manifesto to develop and uplift the people of Nagaland.
Asked about shifting allegiance by NCP MLAs as witnessed in the past, he said such practises were common for small states like Nagaland. He, however, said that in a democratic process, opposition had bigger role to play.
Er Picto Shohe is NCP Legislature party leader
The seven NCP legislators, during its first meeting held at Hotel Japfü on Saturday, resolved to make Er. Picto Shohe as the leader of the NCP Legislature Party. At the meeting, which was also attended by national general secretary Narendra B Verma, it was decided to make P. Longon as the deputy leader of the NCP Legislature party.
Namri Nchang and Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe were made as the chief whip and whip of the party respectively while S Toiho was assigned as the spokesperson.

LJP (RV) lends support

DIMAPUR, MAR 4 (NPN): Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national president and Lok Sabha MP, Chirag Paswan has extended support the NDPP-BJP government in Nagaland.
In a letter to Assam chief minister and North East Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chirag Paswan requested Sarma to consider two of its party legislators– Dr Sukhato A Sema and Naiba Konyak to be part of the government formation in Nagaland. Chirag also reaffirmed LJP’s support to NEDA under the NDA. “I request you to kindly consider our party MLAs also in the government formation/ power sharing arrangements by assigning them appropriate positions in the Nagaland cabinet/government,” he stated.
Addressing the media on March 3 at Dimapur, LJP (RV) national general secretary Dr Ajay Kumar Pandey, who had come to take stock of the situation, said that the party would have to wait for the final decision of both BJP and LJP central high command. The party also said that it will have to wait and watch the political developments that will unfold in the coming days.
