NCD seeks relief for fire victims

Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has appealed to the Dimapur district administration, civil society organisations, NGOs and well-wishers to extend relief to the families of April 9 fire victims at East Block Colony Burma camp, where huge fire broke out Sunday afternoon killing one person and rendering hundreds of families homeless.
In a press release, NCD vice president Holuto Aye and general secretary LK Peter Anal stated that the NCD team visited fire victim families at Burma Camp’s Ward No.3 and donated a small relief Rs. 10,000.
NCD said the team also visited Old Naga Cemetery for ground assessment after report of fire incident.
According to NCD, the team found that “some of the epitaph/woods written on the memorial stones and marbles” were burnt black. The council said the team advised the Naga Cemetery chowkidar to be watchful so such fire incident did not happen again in future.
NCD team also visited the construction project, Elevated Prayer Hall, undertaken by Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur at Old Naga Cemetery.
It may be mentioned that NCD and ASTD signed an MoU on March 7, 2022 for beautification and revamping of the Naga Cemetery in preparations for the platinum jubilee of NCD in 2024.
