Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Suruhuto in convergence with International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Fostering Climate-resilient Upland Farming Systems (FOCUS) Zunheboto conducted a field day on April 13 at Aichisaghemi Village.
A press release by ATMA Suruhuto stated that resource person, Block Technology Manager (BTM) Tokiye block, Sedivisie Liegese demonstrated step by step preparation for nursery seed bed along with specific spacing for cole crops under protected structure. He stressed on the importance of site selection and said that the area should be free from water logging and away from direct sunlight.
Liegese also briefed the farmers on the importance of land preparation, sowing, weed control and plant protection in order to yield better harvest. Later seeds of cole crops were distributed to the farmers.
Earlier on April 13, ATMA Akuluto block also conducted field day at Pineapple Farm School, Lumami village with BTM Akuluto block, Tsuktilemla Ao as the resource person. During the day, the resource person highlighted the farmers on the topic “cultural practices in pineapple production”. Garden rake and shovel were distributed to the participants after the programme.
