Green-SONS appeal to power deptt

Green Succession of Nagaland State (Green-SONS) has expressed concern over the incident where an adult elephant was electrocuted recently at Longchum village under Yanmhon area of Wokha district.
In a press note, the organization appealed to the state power department to ensure that the transmission lines are safely secured, particularly along the elephant corridors and also in human habitation. Green-SONS lamented that it had submitted memorandums to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. and the state Power department in April 2019 to initiate immediate rectification of power lines putting additional poles. However, the appeal fell on deaf ears, it added. It, therefore, once again reminded the concern department to do the needful at an earliest to avoid such incidents.
