A two-day awareness programme on prevention of child marriage was organized by District Child Protection Unit Dimapur (DCPUD) on May 5 and 6, at Chungaizeang Council Hall and Nagagaon Council Hall Dimapur.
A press release by DCPUD stated that resource, Legal-cum-Probation officer DCPUD, Moajungla, spoke on the prohibition of Child marriage Act 2006, where she highlighted on the provisions for maintenance and residence to female victim of child marriage and punishment for solemnising, permitting and marrying of child.
A poster campaign was also carried out.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by PO(IC), Esther Sumi and vote of thanks by DCPO, Avika Zhimomi and PO (NIC) DCPUD, Arenla phom.
The programme was attended by staff of CDPO (urban) and DCPUD and CWC members.
