Yanthan launches ‘pictorial chart on Lotha costume and artifacts’

Advisor of Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan said that the culture was an identity and that it should be a matter of shame for those people who do not have the knowledge about their own culture.
Yanthan said this while speaking as the special guest at the launching programme of “pictorial chart on Lotha Naga costumes and artifacts” at Likya community hall, Wokha on Tuesday. Congratulating and appreciating the four like-minded individuals for bringing out the pictorial chart, Yanthan urged them to not stop to take this programme as their stepping stone towards bringing out more innovative projects on similar lines. Elaborating further on the importance of culture and identity, Yanthan also touched on the importance of preserving and promoting traditional attires, language and literature.
Earlier, Wokha Town Baptist Church (WTBC) pastor Rev. Abemo Jungio dedicated the pictorial chart before it was unveiled by the advisor.
Brought out by four like-minded individuals including Ajamo Odyuo, P. Orenbomo Tungoe, K. Mesathung Kinghen and L. Zachamo Ovung with an aim to preserve, propagate and promote the traditional Lotha costumes and artifacts.
In his short speech, Lotha Literature Committee (LTC) chairman Thungjamo Tsanglao enlightened the gathering of heads of departments and educational institutions, elders, and well-wishers on the various steps being undertaken by the LTC on development and promotion of the Lotha dialect.
At the launching programme chaired by L. Zachamo Ovung, invocation was said by WTBC deacon Santsuo Shitiri, welcome address delivered by P. Orenbomo Tungoe, and vote of thanks by K. Mesathung Kinghen.
