Three-day STA conference concludes

Three-day Sümi Theological Association (STA) conference concluded with a Sunday devotional service with a reading from the Bible, Psalms 103: 1-5 by Sapoti Baptist Church, women leader, Honishi, wherein she testified God’s unconditional love towards her when she battling with cancer.
A press statement by STA president, Lujeka Assumi and media and publicity team, Atoka Chishi stated that Oriental Theological Seminary, principal, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, spoke on conference’s main theme “Contextualizing Theology” and gave a brief understanding about what contextualizing of gospel was all about.
He challenged students to promote gospel wisely amidst wide range of religions confronting Christianity today.
Rev. Wati also insisted that Christian ministers should avoid relativism and the gospel of cross should not be compromised. He stressed the importance of having personal salvation experience without which contextualizing theology would be incomplete.
He also said that the contribution of eminent Philosopher theologian Thomas Aquinas had earned theology, an honoured title, queen of science and encouraged that such tag should be restored by young and upcoming theologians.
Executive engineer, PHED, Zunheboto division, Er. Kitoshe Shikhu, encouraged all to be consistent in their own vocation.
Er. Kitoshe reminded the church leaders that they have much impact over their respective church members, saying “ our heavenly abode and the rewards one would be receiving at Heaven depends on our lives on earth”.
He urged the congregation to avoid “clanism” and “factionalism” in society and expressed believe that Church platform could rule out nepotism.
Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK), executive secretary Joshua Rochill, also read out a list of new ministers who would be serving SBAK Churches as pastors, women leaders, youth leaders and a dedicatory prayer was also offered for them.
Meanwhile, STA also expressed gratitude to the host church, delegates and conference dignitaries, theological students, graduates and church workers for being a part of the successful conference. Anderson Theological College presented a special number from the playlist of the video that would be released soon by a reckless films production directed by Vito Sumi.
