Several organizations including deputy chief minister TR Zeliang have condemned the May 25 incident in Tizit where Tizit Area Student’s Union Action committee chairman Ahoa Konyak was hacked to death by an alleged drug peddler.
TR Zeliang: In a condemnation note, TR Zeliang while condemning the murder of Ahoa, said that the ruthless act has left him heartbroken. He appealed to all concern to cooperate with the investigation agency and hoped that the investigation would be carried out without fear or favour so that justice was delivered at the earliest.
Zeliang also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them solace and the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
ENWO: Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation said it was outraged and anguished by the brutal and gruesome act of the accused, which only resulted in the loss of an innocent life. ENWO fervently called upon the government to take serious note of the menace of alcohol and drugs abuse in the state, which has become a threat to the society.
ENWO also appealed to the law enforcing authorities to impose rigorous and befitting punishment to the perpetrator as per the relevant section of the law. It said that no leniency should be shown towards such criminal and appealed that justice be served to the deceased at the earliest.
Meanwhile, ENWO conveyed condolences to the family of late Ahoa and stands in solidarity with TASU
KNSK Aboi unit: Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong Aboi Unit has condemned the despicable and inhuman act which led to death of Ahoa Konyak allegedly by a mere drug addict and peddler who callously disregarded the value of human life.
While stating that the organisation stands in solitary with the community with profound grief, the unit president Lamlen and secretary H. A Chaoya urged upon the law enforcing agencies to swiftly bring the perpetrator to justice and impose strictest and severe punishment possible.
The organisation also extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured their unwavering support in the fight of justice and closure.
LSU: Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) vehemently condemned the inhumane and barbaric act perpetrated by the accused Menshan Konyak while TASU were conducting an official inspection to curb the menace of illicit drug peddling and usage in the area.
In a statement, LSU president Lirhonthung E Kithan and general secretary Chanpenthung demanded the law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment to the accused for fair justice and also appealed to the concerned authorities to enforce a policy in order to eradicate the trafficking and usage of drugs and substances in the state.
Further, LSU conveyed it condolences to the bereaved family members and urge upon all the right-thinking citizens to condemn such heinous deeds and stand against the abuse of drugs and substances.
ZLSU: Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) expressed shocked and outraged by the cold-blooded murder of a young and dynamic student leader whose life was tragically taken away while on duty to curb the menace of drugs and drug trafficking in the society.
ZLSU president Kingsalt Hegwang and general secretary Sanlakbo Namdau urge the investigating and law enforcing agencies to expedite the probe and award the highest degree of punishment to the culprit and deliver justice to the victim and to the Tizit Area Students’ Union.
ZLSU extended condolences to the bereaved family and said that the union stand in solidarity with the family and TASU at this hour of grief and sadness.
AKM: Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) vehemently condemned the gruesome attack and murder of Ahoa Konyak, chairman of the action committee, Tizit Area Students’ Union by a drug peddler while on official duty.
While appealing for justice, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Satemmongba said that such inhuman act was unacceptable in a peaceful society. AKM further urged upon the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and award befitting punishment to the culprit.
AKM also expresses heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family members and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace. Sd/-
AZSU-AMN: All Zeliangrong Students’ Union Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AMN) said it was distressed to learn about the gruesome attack and killing of Ahoa Konyak, TASU action committee chairman by a drug peddler, while on official duty.
AZSU vice president Edward Nring and asst. general secretary Ireibam Pame said that every organization in its own area and jurisdiction has the right to carry out its own course of duty, which may not be palatable to many, but this does not give anybody the authority to strangulate such course of duty.
The union said it was deeply concerned about the incident, which has taken the life of a committed leader. It urged upon the law enforcing agencies to bring to book the perpetrator and deliver justice without any delay.
The union conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and extended solidarity to TASU in their novel movement on “War Against Drugs” and other anti-social elements. It also prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
KVSU: Kongan Village Students Union vehemently condemned the barbaric act perpetrated by one Menshan Konyak S/o Kapnyei Konyak upon Lt Ahoa Action Chairman of Tizit Area Students Union who was cold bloodedly murdered on the 25th of May 2023 while on official duty. The Union lament as to such kind of incident couldn’t be averted in a society where people crave for peace and humanitarian deeds. The Union invoke all right thinking citizen to condemn such uncultured act.
In this tough time the Kongan Village Students union stands with TASU and convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Further, the union reminds law enforcing agency to initiate stern action against the perpetrator.
