Dimapur police cracks down on crime

Dimapur police has made several arrests in the past month, mostly on charges of extortion, stated a press statement by ADCP/PRO, Dimapur police.
PRO, Dimapur police, informed that one person identified as NagatoYepthomi was arrested on extortion charges on April 25 from Sangtamtilla area, Dimapur. He was caught collecting money from vehicles in the name of NSCN/GPRN (I-M).
On April 26, two persons identified as Vikiho Aye and Toluka Chophy, both reportedly working as khapur in the NSCN (R), were arrested on charges of extortion from Station Road area, DImapur.
In a similar case, one person identified as Zakato Ayemi was arrested on April 27 from Murgipatti area, Dimapur while demanding illegal taxes from business houses. Incriminating documents in the form of demand slips of the GDRN/FGN (NA) were seized from his possession, PRO added.
On the same day, another person identified was as Dildar Hussian was arrested after the citizens of Residency Colony, Dimapur apprehended him while demanding yearly taxes of some NPGs. Incriminating documents in the form of challans, slips, etc., were also seized from his possession.
In another case of extortion, one person identified as Akivito Awomi, reportedly a Khapur of the NSCN(R), was arrested from Diphupar area on April 28. He was arrested while serving demand slips to the business establishments.
Two persons identified as Takendar Singh and Babul Ali, were on April 29 arrested from Netaji Colony, Dimapur after they were found collecting illegal taxes from the commercial establishments in the area.
Opium seized: Dimapur Police on April 29 arrested one lady identified as Seirou Poumai of Phaibung Khurou village, Senapati, Manipur after she was found in possession of approximately 2 kgs of Opium.
One arrested for attempted murder: In another case, the Dimapur Police arrested one Kakuto Zhimomi Khehoyi, after he reportedly attempted to murder a lady with firearms at Kiyeto village, Dimapur. The victim, reportedly his mother-in-law was critically wounded and admitted in the hospital, PRO informed. A case has been registered and investigation was underway.
