Personnel of Fire Station, Kohima (South) carried out mock drill and awareness on fire safety and rescue technique at Government Primary School, Lerie for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) on Wednesday.
At the mock drill, sub-inspector, Kohima (South), Keyirangsobe Zeliang gave a basic knowledge on fire and said accidents can be avoided when addressed on the right time and in the right way.
He told the students that it was important for everyone to keep in mind the basic techniques of handling such situation so that major accident could be averted.
He also advised the students to not play with fire and in case of fire, he asked them to inculcate the habit of informing.
The team also carried out demonstration on how to safely put out fire with the different types of fire extinguishers.
They also demonstrated on how to put out fire from domestic gas cylinders. Rescue technique for evacuating injured persons were also displayed to the children during the drill.
