‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ observed

Longleng observed “Menstrual Hygiene Day” on June 1 at Government High School (GHS) Nyengching, Longleng under the theme, “Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030”. The day was also observed across the district in all the Health Units under Longleng.
A press release by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Longleng office stated that during the programme, MO RBSK, Dr. Suyimzenla oriented the students about menstrual hygiene and cautioned them against the use of unscientific and unhygienic materials during their menstrual cycle. She said they should have access to everything necessary understand and care for their body and attend schools without stigma or shame. Awareness on the importance of Menstruation, Menstrual hygiene, use and proper disposal of sanitary products were highlighted during the programme, which was followed by the distribution of sanitary pads. The day was also observed across the district in all the Health Units under Longleng.
