1 held with drugs worth Rs 6 crore

Karbi Anglong police arrested one person on charges of possessing 1.1kg heroin worth around Rs 6 crore on Monday. According to police, the consignment, which was brought from Dimapur, was to be handed over to a certain individual in Assam.
A senior police official said that a team of police set up a special naka at No 2 Nambor Forest Bridge, where a vehicle (Ertiga-AS03T2397) was intercepted. On thorough search, 89 soap boxes containing 1.104 kg heroin, concealed in the vehicle’s door panel, were recovered. The driver identified as one Paresh Mallik (49) was arrested, police said.
