Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight launched in Zunheboto

District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at Government Middle School, Old Town Zunheboto and across all health units in the district on June 5.
A press release by DHS informed that IDCF was organized with an objective to attain zero number of child deaths due to diarrhoea and aims to create mass awareness about the most effective and low-cost diarrhoea treatment— a combination of Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) solution and Zinc tablets.
Dy. CMO Zunheboto, Dr. K. Akaho Sema launched the programme and delivered a short speech. He spoke on the importance of hand washing and maintaining good hygiene to prevent diarrhoea.
He further stressed on the key actions and use of ORS and Zinc during diarrhoeal episodes among children and assured that it was safe. He also gave an overview on IDCF which will commence from June 5 till June 17, 2023 across all health units in the district.
Medical Officer (MMU) Zunheboto, Dr. Atoikali demonstrated home based ORS preparation to the participants.
District Epidemiologist, Dr. C. Zhekheli Chishi demonstrated the different techniques of hand washing to the students.
During the fortnight, availability of ORS and Zinc to be distributed to children along with their mothers/ care-givers suffering from diarrhoea, demonstration on preparation of homemade ORS and awareness on prevention of diarrhoea to parents/caregivers at all health units will be carried out.
Earlier, the programme chaired bv DPM (NHM), Zunheboto, Rosemary Vitoli began with an invocation by Toli Yepthomi BAC (Sadar), Zunheboto.
