Advisor to chief minister and chairman, Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Abu Metha paid a visit to the American Centre in Kolkata, West Bengal on June 9.
He was accompanied by chairman of TaFMA, Theja Meru.
A DIPR report stated, Metha met director of Adrian Pratt, Sameek Gosh and Aishwarya Mondal and also interacted with other officials from various departments including education, exchanges and entrepreneurship.
Metha conveyed greetings and appreciation to the American Centre for organising various programmes in Nagaland and the North East. In the meeting, Metha informed the US Government officials on the various initiatives undertaken in Nagaland and highlighted the possibilities for partnerships and collaborations. Some of the areas possibilities that were discussed included education, opportunities for underprivileged children, programmes in various sectors including sports, culture, music, arts etc.
Chairman, TaFMA, Theja Meru highlighted the mandate and initiatives under TaFMA and discussion were held on future partnerships in the fields of music, arts and culture.
Metha expressed confidence that deliberations will result in positive initiatives that will strengthen bilateral ties and increase people to people contact which will result in mutual gain and benefit.
Both Abu Metha and Theja Meru were alumni of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
