In line with Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) notice and in and pursuance of Longleng district administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public, DC Longleng has precautionary measures for all residents of the district to follow during the monsoon season.
According to a DIPR report, the DC said the onset of monsoon has brought forth a significant shift in weather patterns, necessitating a heightened state of preparedness among the community members.
As per the weather updates shared by NSDMA, DC said the forthcoming week was anticipated to witness moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by intermittent thunderstorms and lightning. These weather phenomena are likely to manifest in the region of Longleng district, making it imperative for the district to exercise utmost caution.
The district administration, cognizant of the potential risks associated with such weather conditions, has advised all residents to adopt the following precautionary measures –
(a). Minimize non-essential outdoor activities, particularly those involving agricultural practices, cattle grazing, fishing, and unnecessary travel, during the specified period.
(b). Seek shelter in safe and secure structures, such as residential dwellings, offices, or designated community centers, when adverse weather conditions prevail. It is essential to avoid seeking refuge in temporary or weak structures.
(c). Remain vigilant and monitor local media channels for the latest updates, advisories, and instructions disseminated by NSDMA, the district administration, and other relevant authorities. Timely information will empower us to make informed decisions regarding our safety.
d. In the event that immediate shelter is required and no suitable structure is within proximity, promptly vacate elevated areas, including hills, mountain ridges, or peaks, which may pose a greater risk of lightning strikes or associated hazards.
