DHS Zunheboto observes ‘World Cancer Day’

District Health Society (DHS), Zunheboto observed ‘World Cancer Day’ under the theme “We can I can” on Thursday at District Hospital Zunheboto.
Speaking as the resource person, senior specialist, District Hospital Zunheboto, Dr. Akaho, highlighted on the significance of the day and highlighted the early warnings and awareness for early detection of cancer.
Advising the participants to restrict themselves from taking excess alcohol, tobacco products, intake of red meat and smoked meat, Dr. Akaho encouraged the participants to maintain a healthy diet and maintain physical activity.
He cautioned that lack of exercise would lead to obesity, high blood pressure, chronic respiratory, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
In the programme, free IEC materials were also distributed to the schools.
The programme was attended by Dr. Hokishe Sema, CMO, Dr. Alemwapang, DPO (RCH & UIP), DPMU staffs, stakeholders, students and medical fraternity.
The programme was chaired by Vitoli, DPM, and Dr. Hoito Sema, deputy CMO delivered the key note address. During the observation of World Cancer Day, 117 screening was also done.
