Former VC of NU Prof. Lal dies

Former vice-chancellor of Nagaland University (NU) Prof. Pardeshi Lal passed away at his home town Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on June 18, 2023.
Born on July 15, 1955, Prof. Lal joined NU as a professor in the department of Zoology on May 15, 1997. He was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the University on May 18, 2017 and served the University in that capacity till September 14, 2022.
In a press release, NU registrar i/c N. Albert Khizho stated that his passing away was a loss beyond repair to the Nagaland University as a whole and the academic fraternity in particular.
The release stated that the contributions of Prof. Pardeshi Lal to the growth and development of Nagaland University in various capacities right from its early days was beyond measure and would be remembered for years to come.
The vice-chancellor, pro-vice chancellors, faculty, officers, staff and students of Nagaland University have expressed deep grief over his sudden and untimely demise.
