A three-day long training on sustainability of groundwater sources commenced on Tuesday at the office of Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Kohima.
A press release by PHED, Kohima informed that, Jal Jeevan mission-Har Ghar Jal, implemented by department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, government of India was aimed to provide safe drinking water to each and every household in the country.
The inaugural session was graced by Superintendent Engineer, Kohima Circle, PHED Er.Vikeduolie Mepfhuo as chief guest and executive engineer sanitation and WSSO, PHED Er. Ichirang Zeliang as guest of honour.
In the first session, Scientist C,CGWB Arijit Mitra, highlighted the concepts of hydrogeology and aquifer system, followed by presentation from scientist C, CGWB Shasinlo Kent, on hydrogeology of Nagaland with special reference to springs.
Scientist-C, CGWB Aneinuo Pienyii, talked on SoP of source sustainability of groundwater sources and risk assessment, and hands on session of water gap assessment under Jal Jeevan Mission and risk assessment of village was also conducted. Scientist- C Chao Kongseng Gogoim led a hand on session on toposheet reading and demarcation of watershed boundary. Scientist- C, CGWB Anenuo Pienyu, chaired the inaugural session while vote of thanks was proposed by Scientist-C, CGWB Shasinlo Kent.
