Disaster management drill at Kohima Science College

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and support by Fire & Emergency services, Kohima organized a disaster management drill at Kohima Science College (KSC) Jotsoma on Friday. 
The event was a simulation of disaster and reaction to its effect in real time and place and it was focused at disaster preparedness in institutions. 
Guided and supported by the disaster management agencies, KSC teachers and the students participated in the drill. On completion of the exercise, debriefing was held to review the performance and steps to improve upon response in the event of a disaster were formulated.
KSC principal and responsible officer of the drill, Dr I. Anungla Aier expressed gratitude to the organizers and supporting departments for having selected the college for this initiative.
OSD, NSDMA, Johnny Rongmie and SRRO, L. Jonjibemo Odyuo, opined that Kohima Science College may be used as a model to develop a module of training in disaster management for other institutions of the state.
Earlier, led by assistant professor KSC, Kenneth Punyu, a program was held on the basics of disaster management where officers from the NSDMA and the district’s counterpart, Thejangulie Zao, Temsuwangshi and Khrolou Kosa Lohe spoke.
The programme culminated with instructions on fire safety and table top exercise delivered by inspector, Fire& Emergency Services, Kenny Khing and SRRO, NSDMA, L. Jonjibemo Odyuo.
