CBPF resolves to oppose ‘good governance day’

Chakhesang Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (CBPF) during its fellowship held at Chizami Baptist Church from March 21 to 23 had resolved to support the CBCC’s stand against imposition of “good governance day” on Christmas Day.
A press note by Pastors’ Fellowship CBCC chairman, Rev. Dr. Nuvucho Dzüdo and executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, has urged the state government of Nagaland to take up the matter in all seriousness with the central government for necessary rectifications.
CBCC maintained that the observance of good governance day on Christmas day was a deliberate attempt on the part of the central government to suppress the religious rights of the Christians in India and would go down in history as discriminatory move against the religious minority.
It also stated that it was a threat not only to the spirit of secularism but a total disregard, neglect, discrimination and denial of our fundamental right to religious practices.
CBCC also noted that imposing uniform civil code in addition to good governance day were a display of political arrogance and religious intolerance of the central leadership of the day.
CBCC called upon all Christians to defy the imposition of good governance day on Christmas day and also appealed the concerned authority to repeal the central government’s decision to observe good governance day on Christmas day. CBCC also called upon all believers to pray for God’s intervention for necessary repealing and rectification of the government’s decision.
