Pre-All India Vayu Sainik camp underway

The ten-day, Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-31)-cum-Pre-All India Vayu Sainik Camp-I for the NCC Air Wing cadets undertaken by 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC, Dimapur under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarter, Kohima commenced on June 30 at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), Chumukedima.
A press release by PRO (defence) informed that the camp was conducted as a preparatory training as well as selection of cadets for the prestigious All India Vayu Sainik Camp, scheduled to be held at Bengaluru in the month of September 2023.
The 10-day long camp was aimed to provide intensive training to 449 air wing cadets from all over the NE states and will conclude on July 9. Training will be imparted by three Flying Branch Officers, 16 IAF/Army instructional staff, three Aero-Modeling Instructors, nine Associated NCC Officers (ANO).
Since the camp was a Pre-All India Vayu Sainik Selection Camp, PRO said syllabus will be emphasized on flying and Aviation related topics besides usual training in Drill, Health & Hygiene, Nutrition, Firing Practice, Aero-Modelling, Tent Pitching etc.
As on July 3, more than 70 cadets of senior wing have undergone training flights in the camp and over 150 cadets have undergone firing training.
Col Manjeet Katoch, Officiating Group Commander, NCC Group HQ, Kohima welcomed the cadets and motivated them to make full use of the training activities planned in the camp. He also explained benefits of various certificates issued by the NCC and encouraged the cadets on the importance of time management, discipline, role of cadets in nation building and service to the nation.
