Expressing concern on the formation of new government/faction (NSCN/GPRN) in the Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar), the Eastern Konyak public (Myanmar) in a press statement stated that public wanted unity among the Naga leaders and peaceful atmosphere.
Sharing his views on behalf of the Eastern Konyak (Myanmar), general secretary of Konyak Union (Myanmar), K Akham Honwang said public were fed up as innocent lives have been sacrificed for the Naga independence without basis since 1950s.
He cited some incidents were public leader were beaten and threatened by Naga National workers when public were unable to provide food and could not carry their goods. On the other hand, many of the people faced untold situation in the hands of Burma and Indian military.
He said despite of all those offering “free of cost for the Naga political issue”, the Naga leaders have failed to recognize the sacrifices for the common Naga.
He therefore questioned whether the motto and nomenclature of NSCN/GPRN , “National Socialist Council of Nagaland” was only for Nagaland state Naga or for all Naga people without boundary? “Nagaland For Christ” stood for peaceful or killing each other and merciless on innocent public life?
Observing all these, the public were now confused and saddened as most of the leader focus on their own convenience and fight for position and has become immaturity in the Naga common cause.
He said most of the Naga National Worker leaders were not united and do not respect each other and try to form own group or team. He lamented that the leaders despite of fighting for the Naga cause, were now engaged in forming new group and faction.
He further lamented that not only leaders but the cadres have also started to form their own group by going against their leader. “This is the root for the formation of faction in Naga Political instead of focus on common goal and determination as a mandated in the past political history”, he said.
